Audio post production

It’s broad concept, but in short, audio post production refers to all the activities in which we can use our studio facilities. Recording voices, musicians and sound effects, sound editing and processing, and finally merging all sound components into a wonderful mix. And when everything is perfectly aligned, we master and test this mix for different types of situations, speakers and devices.

Audio post production is more than a technical matter, though. At this final stage of a project, important creative choices are still being made. The movie edit is locked, the game is nearly finished, the museum exhibition is already under construction. The post production phase is often the last chance to make adjustments and to improve to the final product by means of sound.

We are very much aware of the power and the capabilities of sound, and how to use them properly in this final stage. For the finishing touch, or to give a different direction to a particular moment. Deciding on which elements should be the most upfront in the mix and which elements should be pushed back a little. Relatively small adjustments can make a huge difference.

More straightforward audio tasks fall into this category, too. For example, the editing of the supplied production audio recording from a film set. Or the tailoring of countless pieces of recorded text that will later end up as separate voice parts in a game.
Sometimes the supplied audio does not meet the quality standards one would expect. We dispose of the tools and the knowledge to clean up audio in these cases and get rid of hiss, background noises and unwanted reverb.

In Utrecht, we have several studio workspaces, both larger and smaller ones. There are options to monitor in 5.1 surround and to view video on a big screen. There is a comfortable recording room, suitable for a single voice or a small company of musicians. Or for the recording of interviews and conversations, like for example when recording podcasts. All of our rooms are equipped with a silent air-conditioning system.
