A binaural audio experience
What must it have been like to live as a family aboard a hektjalk—a traditional cargo ship from that time?
The hard work, the dangers at sea, and life in a confined space...
Step into the story of the father, mother, and two daughters of the Breevaart family, set over a hundred years ago aboard the hektjalk De Vier Gebroeders.
Starting in April 2025, this story can be heard and experienced in the harbor of the Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen.
Listen at four locations in the ship’s hold, surrounded by a cargo of potatoes, to the personal stories of the family and their servant.
Together with the exhibition designers of Synergique and the set designers of Kloosterboer, we brought this brand-new audio experience to life—an immersive way for visitors to feel what life on board must have been like.
We handled the casting for all roles, recorded all the voices in our studio, and designed the full 3D audio landscape including all sound effects.
